Two pop culture addicts' snarky musings…

Oh wait, it isn’t that kind of site?

Seriously, though, I have been spending far too long staring at this stupid blinking curser trying to figure out the right wording to introduce myself to the masses. Or at least, what we hope will become the masses. I think the problem stems from the fact that I simply love way too much when it comes to pop culture.

My movie tastes range from action flicks to romantic comedies though I think it safe to say my favorites come from Hollywood’s Golden Age. Give me Danny Kaye and Orson Welles any day! The one genre I cannot stand, however, is the horror/thriller section of the video store. I can just barely watch “Repo! The Genetic Opera” and that has more to do with the music than the style of movie itself.

Television is a tough one to pin down too. At the moment I don’t watch any half-hour comedies, however I plan to change that very soon. I prefer the crime dramas, with “Criminal Minds” reigning supreme until the ill-advised (to put it mildly) decision to fire A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster. I absolutely adore “Glee” and, thanks to Mel, tune in for my daily hour-long session of daytime drama. I also am a huge fan of British shows, mainly “Doctor Who,” its spin-off “Torchwood” (only the first two seasons, anything beyond that doesn’t exist in my headcanon), “Primeval” and “Merlin.” So maybe I should amend that to British fantasy/sci-fi television.

The CDs in my car are a “Glee” mix, Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” Jamie Cullum’s “The Pursuit” and “A Very Potter Musical,” among others, to give you an idea of what I listen to on a daily basis. I’ll admit I own more movie soundtracks and Broadway cast recordings than any other genre, but I’m pretty sure I have at least one song from every style. Again, there’s a lot of Rat Pack in there, so I’m pretty sure I was born in the wrong era!

I don’t have a favorite author, but rather a favorite genre and judging from the two and a half shelves of “Star Wars” novels on my bookcase, I think we all know which. I also love historical fiction, especially anything set in the Tudor era and just about anything that catches my fancy: Harlequin, murder mystery and even have a few “Doctor Who” and “Torchwood” books.

I’ve gone on far too long about myself so feel free to have a look around! We’ve pretty much got something for everyone and don’t hesitate to join in and discuss!
