Two pop culture addicts' snarky musings…

Anybody for live blogging the AMAs? Bueller? Bueller?

A little live commentary never hurt anyone and since our blog has been so sorely neglected this week, let’s kick off Thanksgiving with the American Music Awards. (Which I’m totally only watching because of NKOTBSB)

8:00 pm **What the hell is Rihanna wearing and what are the weird jellyfish tentacles on stage with her?

8:05 pm **Is this the Rihanna show?

8:09 pm **So over Usher…I’m sorry, Alicia.

8:16 pm **Why the Black Eyed Peas?

8:19 pm **Yeah, Enrique, everyone knows you’re not really singing, marching band or not…

8:23 pm **And then they don’t have Miley lipsync? WTH?

8:31 pm **Who are you? Oh, wait, it’s Diddy.

8:35 pm **Love Taylor’s new hair!

8:42 pm **I’m so bored…where’s my old school kid rock?

8:48 pm **Wait, what? The time of your life? I will say this for the BEP, no matter how obnoxious the song, if you mute the tv, the performances are always badass.

8:58 pm **Cutest kids ever!

9:00 pm **Who dressed these people tonight?

9:04 pm **Oh, Justin, the piano isn’t fooling anyone…

9:07 pm **I don’t get all the slow, inspirational songs. This is an awards show, not a church.

9:14 pm **Lovin’ the year of the Brad Paisley!

9:16 pm **Every award show should have a Bon Jovi medley.

9:30 pm **Justin Beiber, 30,000 people is a suburb, not podunk, nowhereville.

9:32 pm **Pink is a goddess and can do no wrong. I’ll even forgive the weird MC Hammer outfit because it’s Pink.

9:47 pm **Taylor, again with the morose music. You should be bringing the house down.

9:52 pm **That shrieking you hear in the background is Usher yelling at himself for ever discovering Justin Beiber.

10:04 pm **Let’s hear it for Lady A!

10:10 pm **What’s with all the backup dancers and the 80s graffiti look?

10:15 pm **If only all artist’s would thank Darwin…

10:17 pm **Yay, Pat Monahan and his sparkly pants of awesomeness! Train is love.

10:25 pm **We love when you win things too, Michael Buble.

10:37 pm **Despite that he looks like he just rolled out of bed, Gavin Rosdale looks the most normal of any performer tonight.

10:43 pm **Usher’s on tour with Neo? That’s a show I’d pay to see, and I mean that in a non-sarcastic way.

10:53 pm **Backstreet’s Back, All right!

10:58 pm **NKOTBSB makes my life.

Weekly Preview – 10/25/2010

No, wait, I’ll say it for you. We suck – we totally suck. Our poor neglected blogverse. All I can say is we’re sorry and we’ll try hard not to do it again. In a week, NaNoWriMo starts and you’ll be even more amused/frustrated by us. And if you don’t know what that is, google it peeps.

If it’s any consolation, I spent the day being yelled at by residents who can’t seem to figure out their water bills, went straight from work to the liquor store, to Starbuck’s, came straight in and sat down to write this. So it’s technically the first thing I’ve done since I got home. In any event, let’s get to pre-Halloween programming shall we?

Monday – Taylor Swift‘s new album, Speak Now, drops today. I love her and I don’t care what anyone else thinks so 😛 Ahem…if you’re more into hot boys and sunshine, check out Hawaii Five-0 tonight, which welcomes guest star Kevin Sorbo (aka Hercules for those of you playing the home game) to it’s shores tonight.

Kurt as Riff Raff

Tuesday – Get ready to bring your knees in tight and get ready to do the time warp with the cast of Glee as they take on Rocky Horror. As with all things Glee these days, it could either be awesomely bad or just bad so let’s hope they got the awesome memo. In preparation, watch the movie and then watch Tim Curry‘s guest spot on Psych…mostly because it’s hilarious and I’m watching it now.

Wednesday – You should have a standing appointment with ABC’s Modern Family, but in case you’re on the fence, the Dunphy’s take on the tradition of the haunted house and Cameron hates Halloween because of a traumatic childhood experience…which seems fitting because he dresses up all the other days of the year so he’s earned a day off.

Thursday – The Vampire Diaries has been on fire this season with twist after heart wrenching, jaw dropping twist. Given that this weeks episode is set in the midst of a masquerade ball, the roller coaster is sure to continue.

Friday – So I’ve managed to maintain my boycott of a Smallville without Michael Rosenbaum…until this season reeled it’s super head and I rediscovered its wondrous charm, even if it is a Chloe-less charm. After you watch Tess try to find a cure for her rapidly aging little clone boy, Alexander, keep watching for Supernatural, where supposedly we will finally get some answers as to what the hell is wrong with Sam. He’s just not right…

Ok, back to my Psych marathon I go. New season starts next month so I’m getting…aw, hell, psyched. Chocolate pudding here I come!

VMAs 2010 – Or how MTV got her groove back for exactly one evening

Leave it to Chelsea Handler, brilliant woman that she is, to find and maintain the funny at the VMAs this year. As the first woman to ever host in its 16 year history, she called MTV out on the farce that the VMAs are and then MTV managed to put on a pretty good show. Shall we hit the highlights?

*Eminem is still a badass, no matter what anyone says. And though I don’t understand the outfit, I love that Rihanna came out and killed it.

*No one is laughing, Lindsey. Too soon, dumbass. Too soon.

*Still laughing at “the big black elephant in the room.” Oh, Chelsea.

Love or hate the new Jared 'do?

*I love that 30 seconds to Mars won best rock video. What I dont’ love is that terrible new blond ‘do Jared was rockin’. I miss the shag, dude.

*Your love for Justin Beiber isn’t just creepy in the eyes of the law, Kim.

*And then little Justin proved boys can lip sync too.

*Yep, definitely don’t get the whole Usher thing anymore…

*Like most Taylor Swift songs, I’m sure I’ll get this one late, but right now I don’t understand…

*Is it just me or is Justin Timberlake aging backwards? And white again…

*I just heard this song Airplanes the other day for the first time and I LOVE it. It’s such an ear worm and I just don’t care.

*Raise your hand if you are surprised Justin Beiber won Best New Artist. Bueller? Beuller?

*The verdict is still out on the new Linkin Park song for me, but the performance was pretty bad ass.

*Still love me some Cher. Vintage or otherwise…

*Oh Kanye, why won’t you go away? Not even if we ask nicely?

All right, that’s pretty much everything.  I’ll go back to hating MTV tomorrow for bringing Snooki and Speidi into this world, but for now, I’m kind of okay with them being ironically named.
